Auburn Man Gets 8 Years in Prison for Setting Woman on Fire

An Auburn man will serve eight years in prison for setting a woman on fire.

Mathew Mosher, Senior, was sentenced in Cayuga County Court for first-degree attempted assault. The 51-year-old admitted to pouring nail polish remover on a woman and lighting it with a lighter during a July 2024 incident. The woman suffered burns to her legs.

According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, Mosher also received a concurrent sentence of two to four years for a separate aggravated family offense involving a different victim.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Courtney Venditte.
