A Penn Yan man has been arrested in connection with two separate thefts of beer from a local business.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, 57-year-old David Jensen was taken into custody on Wednesday after officers responded to a report that he had entered a store and left without paying for a 15-pack of beer. The business also reported that a similar incident involving Jensen occurred on July 12.
Police later located Jensen on Carpenter Lane, where he was found inside a vehicle with the stolen beer in his possession.
Investigators say Jensen had been previously banned from the business in May 2022 for an earlier shoplifting incident.
He now faces charges related to the repeated thefts and remains scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
