A 17-year-old male is facing charges in Seneca County after allegedly posing as a law enforcement officer on social media.
According to Sheriff Timothy Thompson, the teen was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with second-degree criminal impersonation. Investigators say the teen gained access to a law enforcement uniform, took photos of himself wearing it, and then shared the images with another person via a social media platform—claiming to be an officer.
The teen is scheduled to appear at Seneca County Probation at a later date to answer the charge.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
