New York State Police are renewing the search for two teenagers who went missing more than 50 years ago en route to Watkins Glen International.
Bonita Bickwit and Mitchel Weiser were last seen hitchhiking to the Watkins Glen Summer Jam on July 27, 1973. The teens, just 15 and 16 years old at the time, left their homes in Narrowsburg, New York, and were never seen again.
Mitchel Weiser may have been carrying a Kowa SLR camera when he disappeared.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the case since the day the teens were reported missing. Now, State Police have joined the effort in hopes of bringing closure to their families.
Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 585-398-4100 or 845-344-5300. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office can also be reached at 845-794-7100.
A private reward of $10,000 is being offered for credible information about their disappearance.
