A Penn Yan man was arrested on a warrant for violating probation and is now in custody awaiting court proceedings.
According to authorities, 31-year-old Travis Vermilye was taken into custody in the city of Geneva by Geneva Police. The arrest was made on a warrant issued by Yates County Superior Court for a probation violation.
Vermilye was transferred to the custody of the Penn Yan Police Department and transported to the Yates County Jail. He is being held pending arraignment in Yates County Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
