A domestic incident in the Village of Wolcott last week led to a stabbing and charges against both a 17-year-old and a 33-year-old man.
State Police say they were called to a home on Lake Avenue around 11:45 a.m. on July 17th, where they found 33-year-old Devell Taylor with multiple stab wounds. Taylor was alert at the scene and transported to SUNY Upstate Medical Center. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening but required ICU observation.
Investigators determined the stabbing occurred during a domestic dispute earlier that morning, during which Taylor allegedly became physically aggressive in front of four children. A 17-year-old reportedly intervened and stabbed Taylor multiple times.
The teen was taken into custody and charged as an Adolescent Offender with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned and released to a relative under electronic monitoring.
On Sunday, Taylor was also charged as part of the ongoing investigation. He faces felony criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment. Taylor was taken to the Wayne County Jail for arraignment.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
