A parole hearing is scheduled this week for Gregory Flint, the man convicted of the 1986 rape and murder of 8-year-old Stacey Ackerman in Farmington.
Flint, now 63, was sentenced to 37 years to life after being convicted in 1987 on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, first-degree rape, sodomy, and manslaughter. He had been staying with Ackerman’s family at the time of the crime while facing a DWI charge. Initially, Flint denied being at the home, but later confessed.
This is Flint’s first parole hearing, and his earliest possible release date is in November.
Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts said a petition circulated by Ackerman’s family is urging the state parole board to deny Flint’s release. Ritts emphasized that if Flint is released, he would not be subject to lifetime supervision and expressed doubt about Flint’s rehabilitation.
