New York State Police and Irondequoit Police are investigating a shooting incident early on July 13th at Irondequoit Beach State Park.
Officers responded around 3:53 a.m. to reports of shots fired near the park’s restroom area. A 9mm shell casing and evidence of a gunshot impact were found at the scene. Witnesses reported a group fight followed by two gunshots.
A vehicle seen leaving the area without headlights was stopped nearby. Police detained three individuals and recovered a loaded, unregistered 9mm handgun inside the car.
One suspect, 22-year-old Dontrell Dontrey Hughes of Rochester, was arrested and faces multiple charges, including second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a ghost gun, and reckless endangerment. He was booked and taken to Monroe County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
