The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Marion woman following a traffic stop investigation dating back to May.
Deputies say 53-year-old Rosalinda Cruz was arrested on Thursday after lab results confirmed she was intoxicated during a May 26 traffic stop in Palmyra. Cruz was observed driving northbound in the southbound lane of State Route 21, nearly striking a sheriff’s patrol vehicle.
She later submitted to a blood test, which revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.22%.
Cruz now faces multiple charges, including felony DWI with a prior conviction, Aggravated DWI with a BAC over 0.18%, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, Failure to Use a Designated Lane, Moving from Lane Unsafely, Failure to Keep Right, and Operating Without an Interlock Device.
She was transported to the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment and is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
