Nearly three years after a dumpster fire at an Auburn Byrne Dairy, police have arrested the man they say is responsible.
The fire happened during the early morning hours of August 29, 2022. Police were called to the store on Arterial East after an employee reported the dumpster was on fire. Surveillance footage later showed the suspect, Jonathan Heffle, had been removed from the store shortly before the fire started.
On Sunday, Heffle was located in Avon and taken into custody by Orchard Park Police. He was then turned over to Auburn Police on a warrant charging him with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor arson.
Heffle was released on an appearance ticket.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
