Senator Pam Helming has named longtime nurse and first responder Karen Dewar as the 2025 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction for the 54th District. Dewar was recognized during a recent Livingston County Board of Supervisors meeting for her dedication to both professional nursing and volunteer EMS service.
“Through her professional and volunteer work, Karen has demonstrated how essential nurses and EMS professionals are to our communities and residents who rely on lifesaving medical care,” said Senator Helming. “She is an incredible example to individuals entering the healthcare and EMS fields, and especially to young women.”
In addition, Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey honored Livingston County Historian Holly Watson as the 2024 Woman of Distinction for her contributions to preserving and sharing the county’s rich history.
