A 20-year-old Canandaigua man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a reported domestic disturbance on Jefferson Avenue late last month.
Police allege that Alijah Whitfield grabbed another person by the neck, slammed them to the floor, and held them against their will. The alleged incident reportedly occurred in the presence of a child.
Whitfield was charged with Strangulation, a Felony, along with misdemeanor counts of Unlawful Imprisonment and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
