SHARE NOW

A Bath woman was arrested on charges of offering a false written instrument for filing and making a punishable false written statement.

On Saturday, an officer with the Bath Police Department was requested to assist with another agency’s investigation of an open case. During the investigation, Arya Dickson was interviewed and she provided a sworn statement to said officer. The officer suspected that the statement provided did contain false information and conducted a subsequent investigation. Following the investigation, it was determined that the 27-year-old Dickson did provide inaccurate information in the statement.

Dickson was arrested and released on an appearance ticket as the charges do not qualify for bail. She will return to Bath Village Court at a later date.

According to the Bath Police Department, Dickson is currently under the supervision of Steuben County Probation.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
