A Naples man is facing felony DWI charges following a traffic stop in the village of Penn Yan.
Police say they were dispatched after receiving a report of a vehicle driving erratically on Lake and Liberty Streets. Officers located the vehicle on Elm Street and observed the driver fail to signal a left-hand turn. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was identified as 59-year-old Graham Webster.
According to police, Webster showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, watery eyes, and the smell of alcohol on his breath. He refused to take field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
Officers later determined Webster had a prior DWI conviction within the past ten years, elevating the current charge to a felony. He was transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment in CAP Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
