Rochester Man Charged After Allegedly Hiding Suspected Drugs During Penn Yan Traffic Stop

SHARE NOW

A Rochester man is facing a felony charge after allegedly attempting to hide a suspected controlled substance during a traffic stop in Penn Yan.

According to Penn Yan Police, 30-year-old Vernell Moore was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Clinton Street. During the stop, officers say Moore discarded a clear plastic bag into nearby bushes in an attempt to conceal it. The bag was recovered and found to contain what appeared to be a controlled substance.

Moore was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.

Police say additional charges are pending.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
