Rochester Man Arrested on Seneca County Bench Warrants

SHARE NOW

A Rochester man was taken into custody earlier this week on two outstanding bench warrants issued by the Town of Tyre Court.

According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, on July 2, deputies were notified by the Greece Police Department that they had a suspect in custody for unrelated offenses committed in their jurisdiction. Further investigation revealed that the individual, identified as 63-year-old Alphonso Mems, had two active bench warrants through the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies coordinated with Greece PD to take custody of Mems. The exchange took place without incident, and Mems was transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center, where he was processed and handed over to corrections staff.

The bench warrants were issued after Mems failed to appear in court on multiple occasions. He is being held awaiting arraignment in Seneca County’s Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
