Lyons High School History and Leadership teacher Erica Gansz has been named a recipient of the Educator’s Inspiring a Generation Award by New York State, recognizing her dedication to student success and well-being.
Gansz was surprised with the award during an end-of-school-year Moving-Up Day ceremony, receiving a standing ovation from students, staff, and family members.
Superintendent Dr. Barr, who nominated her, praised Gansz as “student-centered, relentlessly positive, and committed to making school a place where students feel empowered.”
Known for her impactful Leadership classes, Gansz helps students lead community-building initiatives such as kindness campaigns, spirit events, and service projects, encouraging them to find their voice and use it to inspire others.
I’m proud to be a teacher in the very district I graduated from. Lyons produces incredible citizens, and LCSD gives us the foundation to succeed in any career or phase of life,” said Gansz. “Whether you go out into the world or return to give back to the community that raised you, the values learned here stay with you. I’m proud to be here, and even more proud to raise my family here.”
