An evidentiary hearing on Greenidge Generation’s application to renew its Title Five air permit has again been postponed, this time until August. Additional hearing dates are set for November and December, if needed.
The hearings were originally set for early June and were postponed to last Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. According to the amended notice on the DEC’s website, the hearing is slated to begin August 5th at 9 a.m. at the DEC offices in Albany. Additional sessions are scheduled for August 6, and then for two days in November and December.
Greenidge, which operates a natural gas-powered Bitcoin mining facility on Seneca Lake, has been fighting the DEC’s 2022 denial of its air permit. A February appellate court decision denied Greenidge’s request to pause administrative proceedings, even as it challenges a lower court ruling that found legal errors in the DEC’s denial but allowed the agency to restart its review.
