A 21-year-old Wayne County man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred last Friday in the village of Sodus.
Troopers responded to the initial report of a stabbing, where a 26-year-old man had been transported by private vehicle to the Sodus Fire Department. The victim was then taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Following an investigation, police identified Darin Barber, Junior, of Sodus, as the suspect. Barber voluntarily surrendered to State Police on Monday. He was charged with Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, both felonies. After arraignment, Barber was sent to Wayne County Jail.
No further details about the victim’s condition were released. The investigation is ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
