Dead Dog Leads to Animal Cruelty Charges Against Bath Couple

SHARE NOW

Two Bath residents are facing charges following an animal cruelty investigation in Steuben County.

Police were called to a home on Charles Street after animal control responded to a welfare check on a dog reportedly showing signs of heat exhaustion. When they arrived, the dog was found dead on the lawn. Investigators say the animal had been left outside for an extended time without access to clean water or shelter during extreme heat.

35-year-old Theodore Furia and 31-year-old Nicole Wandell were both charged with failure to provide proper sustenance and shelter. They were released on appearance tickets.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
