A 17-year-old from Romulus has been arrested on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The arrest of the teenager stems from a report where it is alleged that the adolescent offender unlawfully took a car from a driveway of a residence in Romulus. The victim did not give consent to use her car and called the police once she realized the car was no longer in her driveway. The car was subsequently returned to the victim hours later and the teenager was placed into custody.
Due to the age of the offender, he was issued a juvenile appearance ticket and released to his legal guardian.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
