The new executive director of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association is the former director of the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association.
Emily Debolt will oversee the Canandaigua Lake Association’s watershed protection programs, education and outreach efforts, and strategic partnerships throughout the Canandaigua Lake region.
“We are thrilled to welcome Emily to the CLWA,” said Sue Martenson, Board President. “Her leadership across the Finger Lakes and Lake George regions, combined with her expertise in education, invasive species prevention, native plant landscapes, and nonprofit management, makes her uniquely qualified to lead our organization forward during a time of increasing environmental challenges.”
Debolt joins CLWA from the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association, where she served as Association Director, overseeing operations, fundraising, volunteer coordination, and community outreach. Her previous experience includes leadership roles at the Lake George Association—where she directed award-winning education programs—and with New York State Parks, where she supported regional communications and environmental initiatives.
“I’m honored and excited to join the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association at such a critical time,” said Debolt. “As severe storm events and harmful algal blooms increasingly impact Canandaigua Lake and other lakes across our region, the work of CLWA has never been more important. Canandaigua Lake is truly exceptional, even among the remarkable Finger Lakes. I look forward to working with the Association’s Board, members, and partners to build on the important work already underway—to protect, enhance, and preserve this incredible resource for our community and for future generations.”
Debolt was named director of Seneca Lake Pure Waters in November 2023. She started in her new role last week.
