Prattsburgh Voters Approve Revised School Budget

SHARE NOW

Voters in the Prattsburgh Central School District approved a revised budget proposal that was put before them last week in the Steuben County township.

After the first vote in May ended in a tie, residents approved last week’s revised budget by a 180-94 vote. The approved spending plan includes a 3.67% increase to the tax levy. District officials stated that the Board of Education chose to utilize restricted reserves strategically to help offset what could have been a larger tax increase. Overall, the proposed budget represents a 1.42% increase over the current year’s budget. However, it includes a one-time capital expense of $512,000 that must be factored into the total.

School administrators noted that without that one-time cost, the budget would have reflected a year-over-year decrease.
