A popular birdwatching spot is getting a grant to repair flood-damaged trails. The Democrat and Chronicle reports trails in Island Cottage Woods Preserve were damaged due to Lake Ontario flooding in 2019. The New York Conservation Partnership Program has awarded 50 thousand dollars to build new trails and amenities in the park. The park has been closed due to the flooding an an infestation of Emerald Ash Borers. Five hundred ash trees have been cut down. Another 50 thousand will go to create trails in Deer Creek Woods in Ontario. The town will also kick in 39 thousand in funding and manpower.
