A Buffalo man had to be extricated from his vehicle and airlifted to Upstate Medical Center following a Monday crash in the Town of Varick.
According to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson, the incident happened around 9:00a when 38-year-old Enis Hertzler of Varick was traveling westbound on Ernsberger Road in a horse and buggy. 42-year-old Osman Muse was traveling in the same direction in a box truck and struck the horse and buggy.
After striking Hertzler, the box truck went off the road and hit a NYSEG pole, causing the pole to break and land on the truck, trapping Muse inside.
Hertzler was treated at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance and taken to Upstate Medical for his injuries. Muse was extricated from his vehicle by first responders and airlifted to Upstate.
Assisting the sheriff’s office were state police, South Seneca Ambulance, and Ovid, Romulus, and Varick Fire Departments.
