Seneca Lake Guardian has scheduled a news conference for later this month to mark the third anniversary of the state’s denial of a permit for Greenidge Generation’s controversial crypto mining operation on the lakefront in Yates County. Greenidge has continued to operate its plant while it challenges the decision in court. The rally will be June 28th at 2:30 next to the Lakefront Visitors Center in Geneva. The next DEC hearing on the permit process will be June 24th, 26th and 27th in Albany. Opponents of the Greenidge plant say it puts excess pollution into the air and harms the water quality of Seneca Lake.
