Moms for Liberty Launches Yates County Chapter

SHARE NOW

Moms for Liberty has launched a new, local chapter in Yates County. Since its inception in January of 2021, Moms for Liberty has created 315 county chapters in 48 states. The Yates chapter is the 15th in New York and the first in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions. A non-profit, non-partisan group dedicated primarily to promoting and protecting liberty, parental rights, and improving education for our children, the chapter includes moms, dads, grandparents, former school board members, and educators.

“According to 2024’s standardized test results recorded on data.nysed.gov, only 44% of 4th graders in the Penn Yan Central School District are proficient in English Language Arts. In the Dundee Central School District the number is only 6%. More focus must be on reading, writing, math, and accurate history. Our children should be taught how to learn, not just what to learn. We need more critical thinkers and problem solvers, not kids who only know how to take a test. Our children should leave school prepared to enter the workforce, as the majority of jobs today don’t require a college degree. I’m so happy to launch this chapter to reach parents and help them feel heard and understood. My hope is that we can be a liaison between and resource for parents, local leaders, and school boards,” Anneke Wheeler, Chapter Chair, Moms for Liberty – Yates County.

According to a release from the organization, the priority of Moms for Liberty is “our children.” The release went on to say that members of this grassroots organization are “joyful warriors, dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating, and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.”

Moms for Liberty said parents “come together, share their concerns about local governments and school districts, and take action to ensure their voices are heard. With compassion and determination, members engage with local leaders to advocate for policies that reflect the needs of families. They believe in holding elected officials accountable while championing the timeless, founding principles of our nation: limited government, personal responsibility, and individual liberty.”
