Police in Palmyra said they arrested the driver of a car who allegedly had a fake driver’s license in his possession.
The traffic stop occurred on West Jackson Street after Armando Costabile allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Police say during the traffic stop, Costabile attempted to provide his driver’s license and in doing so, accidentally dropped a second driver’s license, which was immediately identified as being fraudulent. According to police, the forged license bore Costabile’s name but listed an incorrect date of birth and a false client ID number. A records check confirmed the licensed had not been issued by the New York State DMV. Further investigation also determined Costabile’s driving privileges were suspended.
Costabile was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to follow a traffic control device. He was released on an appearance ticket for Palmyra Village Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
