Parolee checks conducted at the Budget Inn in the village of Bath resulted in the arrest of five people in connection with the recovery of drugs and a replica handgun.
In one hotel room, 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine, approximately 5.6 grams of cocaine, scales, and a large amount of drug packaging materials were seized. Police charged Justin Snyder, a three-time convicted felony, who is currently on parole, with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. The two other people in his room, 32-year-old Megan Tobias and 33-year-old Bryan Burleson, both of Bath, were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Following arraignment, Snyder and Burleson were held without bail.
In a second room at the Budget Inn, approximately 28 grams of meth, 23 grams of cocaine, scales, a large amount of drug packaging materials and a replica Berretta handgun were seized. 42-year-old Brian Hess, a three-time convicted felon who is also on parole, was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Another person in his room, 38-year-old Niccole Scott, of Bath, was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Hess and Scott were both sent to Steuben County Jail without bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
