The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes celebrated a record-breaking turnout for its 31st annual Day of Caring on Wednesday, with 6,400 volunteers participating across six counties, including Ontario, Wayne, Monroe, Livingston, Genesee, and Wyoming.

“The record-breaking number of volunteers that rolled up their sleeves for our nonprofits is a profound reminder of the caring power of this community,” said United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes President & CEO Jaime Saunders. “It’s been a turbulent time for many, which makes the fact that over 200 local workplace organizations paused their work to support our vital community resources truly exceptional.”
United Way also assembled and donated 600 kits with hygiene, home, and mom and baby supplies to 13 local nonprofits throughout the day. Those donations, in addition to Day of Caring, are made possible through the generous support of United Way and the Community Impact Fund.
“United Way’s 2025 campaign is all about changemakers,” said 2025 United Way Campaign Chair and KeyBank Rochester Market President Vince Lecce. “This Day of Caring, we saw changemakers in action from all corners of our region, completing projects and donating supplies. Thank you to the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes team, volunteers, and the thousands of donors that have supported the annual campaign for making today possible.”

Day of Caring is sponsored by Constellation Brands. United Way utilized its volunteer platform, Volunteer United, to mobilize volunteers for Day of Caring. This year, volunteer teams have a chance of winning $250 for their nonprofit site by participating in a social media contest.
