A traffic stop on East Elm Street in the village of Penn Yan resulted in the arrest of a Penn Yan man for allegedly driving drunk.
Police spotted Brian Corcoran driving a car on Wagener Street while failing to keep right. A traffic stop was initiated and police made contact with the 44-year-old who reportedly showed numerous signs of intoxication. Corcoran was placed through a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed. Corcoran was placed under arrest and transported to the Yates County Jail, where he submitted to a chemical breath test. According to police, the test showed Corcoran’s blood alcohol content to be .14%
Corcoran was charged with DWI, DWI .08% BAC or Greater, and Failure to Keep Right. He was released on an appearance ticket to Penn Yan Village Court where he will answer to his charges at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
