A former commander of Geneva American Legion Winnek Post 396 has been indicted on a felony grand larceny charge.
The Ontario County District Attorney’s Office alleges Dale Mosher lifted more than $100,000 in cash from the Legion from December of 2015 until May of 2023. The investigation into Mosher began shortly after he left office and the new Commander contacted the Sheriff’s Department after his attempts to obtain past financial records and banking information for the Legion from Mosher were met with resistance. The new commander expressed concerns that possible financial impropriety had occurred at the hands of the former commander based on an initial internal audit conducted by a legion officer.
Its alleged that Mosher used the money for personal use.
Mosher is scheduled to be arraigned on April 17th and if found guilty of the Class C felony, he could serve 15 years behind bars.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
