Firefighters put out a small fire on Bell Circle in the King Ferry Fire District Monday morning.
According to the fire department, farmworkers at an adjacent dairy were alerted to the detector going off in their double-wide manufactured home. The workers and neighbors used fire extinguishers to knock the fire down until firefighters from Genoa, Lansing, and Moravia helped in putting the fire out.
Damage was kept to a minimum and the home remains habitable.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
