A Steuben County man is facing charges after allegedly being caught with drugs and a weapon on school grounds.
According to State Police, Haley Marble of Canisteo was observed Wednesday by the Canisteo Police Department School Resource Officer operating an unregistered off-road vehicle without a helmet before attempting to hide it behind a shed at Canisteo Greenwood Elementary.
Upon investigation, the 30-year-old was found with suspected cocaine and a flare gun capable of firing 12 gauge shotgun shells.
Marble was charged with Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, both felonies and a misdemeanor count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment
While the investigation is ongoing, police add that this appears to be an isolated incident and there are no threats to public safety.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
