The investigation into a larceny in the town of Marion resulted in the arrest of a Palmyra woman.
43-year-old Melissa Helker was observed by employees placing items in her purse at the Dollar General store. Helker allegedly passed the last point of purchase without paying for said items and was stopped by deputies shortly thereafter.
Helker was charged with petit larceny and was released to appear in Marion Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
