Faced with costly upgrades to meet building codes, Waterloo village officials have come up with a new plan that would keep village offices at their current location on West Main Street, but in a brand-new building.
According to the Finger Lakes Times, the plan would not increase taxes. The village is applying for a $1 million grant from the Restore NY program. That money would be used to demolish the current building.
The village was approached by Construction Design Management Inc. of Brewerton, which has built other municipal facilities through the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative Waterloo has been awarded $10 million in DRI money.
The new building would have village offices on the ground floor and apartments on the second and third floors. The village would have a 30-year lease with the construction company.
