The Yates County Sheriff’s Office wants us to know it has received several reports stating that a person is calling residents posing as one of its investigators.
The person is purported to be telling the people they are calling that they need to pay money or they will be arrested. The calls sound legitimate because the caller uses the names of Sheriff Frank Ryan and Undersheriff Brandon Jensen. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents that if someone is threatening to have you arrested if you do not pay money, it is a scam.
