    In New York, Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Steuben, Tompkins, and Yates Counties. In Pennsylvania, Bradford and Wyoming Counties.
    WHEN
    From 2 PM this afternoon to 2 PM EDT Saturday.
    IMPACTS
    Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
    ADDITIONAL DETAILS
    There will be several periods of stronger winds, with this afternoon seeing strong southerly winds, then a break this evening, before stronger west wind develop tonight into Saturday.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Apartment Fire Inside Penn Yan High-Rise Sends One to the Hospital

A fire inside a fourth-story apartment at St. Mark’s Terrace in Penn Yan sent one person to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The resident was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.  Their condition was not immediately known.

The fire was called in at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and was extinguished a short time later.  Damage was limited to a small space within the apartment. There were no visible signs of smoke or fire from outside of the Penn Yan high-rise.

Penn Yan Fire and Ambulance, along with Penn Yan Village Police responded to the scene.  The Himrod FAST Team was also summoned but was recalled a short time later.
