Former Congressman Sempolinski Wins Assembly Seat

SHARE NOW

A Steuben County Republican who served for a brief period in Congress has been elected to represent a portion of the region in Albany.

Joe Sempolinski was elected this week to the Assembly in the 148th District, which includes the western portion of Steuben County, as well as all of Allegany and Cattaraugus.

“I am so honored to be selected by the people of Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Steuben Counties to represent them in Albany,” said Sempolinski. “I am eager to get to work fighting for the people. I will always make sure that the voice of the Southern Tier is heard loud and clear at the state capitol. There is much work to be done to get the State of New York back on track. The common sense of the people of this region is sorely needed in state government. I also look forward to working with the people as they navigate dealing with the increasingly intrusive state bureaucracy.”

Sempolinski won a special election to represent the former 23rd Congressional District for three months in 2022 following Tom Reed’s resignation. Sempolinski replaces Joe Giglio in the Assembly after Giglio opted not to seek re-election
