Penn Yan Diner Approved for Temporary Food Truck Operation

SHARE NOW

A measure allowing the fire-damaged Penn Yan Diner to operate a temporary food truck to raise funds for its rebuild was approved this week by the Penn Yan Village Board.

The truck will be stationed in the Wagner parking lot on Elm Street, occupying seven parking spaces for the truck, tables, and trash cans from mid-October through November 30, or until the season’s first major snowfall. Safety cones will mark the area of operation.

Final approval is pending the completion of a temporary electrical service request, along with the payment of a right-of-way deposit and filing fee.

The board had previously denied the diner’s request to park the food truck on the street in front of the business, citing safety concerns. The diner has been closed since a fire broke out during the early morning hours of May 22.
