A Maryland man is going to prison after being convicted of sending threatening messages to City of Rochester public officials.

According to U.S. Attorney Adam Schadt, 45-year-old Adam Schadt of Hampstead, Maryland, was convicted of making a threat by interstate commerce. Schadt was sentenced to serve 27 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Frank Geraci, Junior.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. McGrath, who handled the case, stated that the FBI began investigating Schadt in August 2022 after he sent emails to the Chief of the Rochester Police Department and the Sheriff of Monroe County, threatening to shoot both of them. Schadt continued to make threats to various public officials in the greater Rochester area including the Mayor of Rochester and the Monroe County Executive, as well as their families.

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia.
