An Oswego man has been arrested after violating an order of protection in the Town of Sterling.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported domestic violence incident at approximately 2:40p on Thursday. Upon arrival, deputies were able to contact the victim who had fled her home and was at a neighbor’s house.
Deputies then attempted to contact the suspect 29-year-old Zachary Ermini, who was still at the victim’s home. Ermini allegedly refused to leave the house. Deputies also learned that he was in violation of a full stay-away order of protection.
A perimeter was established to prevent Ermini from fleeing and a negotiations team was able to contact Ermini by phone and convince him to exit the residence. He was then peacefully taken into custody.
Ermini was charged with one felony count of Aggravated Family Offense and one misdemeanor count of Criminal Contempt. He was then arraigned in CAP Court with bail set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He paid bail and was released from custody the following morning.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by members of the New York State Police, Fair Haven Fire Department, and Cayuga County 911.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
