Victor Woman Seriously Injured After Husband Accidentally Drives Over Her Leg

SHARE NOW

Police say a 74-year-old Victor man was not intoxicated or impaired when he accidentally ran over his wife as she was getting into their car in Ontario County Saturday night.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Roger Kent had just finished dinner with his wife and family at the Depot 25 Restaurant in Manchester Saturday night when he pulled his car closer to the restaurant to pick up his wife. Investigators say Kent either wasn’t paying attention or was distracted when he thought everyone was inside the car and started to drive forward. That is when Mrs. Kent, who was still entering the backseat, had her right leg driven onto by the back tire of the car. After hearing his wife’s screams, Roger Kent put the vehicle in reverse, removing it from his wife’s leg.

Several good Samaritans attempted to control Mrs. Kent’s bleeding by utilizing a leather belt as a tourniquet. Mrs. Kent had a substantial laceration to her right leg and calf muscle and was bleeding profusely at the scene.

Mrs. Kent was taken to Strong for her serious leg injury.

Assisting the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the State Police, Finger Lakes Ambulance, and the Manchester Fire Department.
