The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost an Empire 8 Conference game to Nazareth University 4-0 at home on Saturday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The Golden Flyers controlled the play early against the Wolves. Nazareth opened the scoring ten minutes into the game for the early lead. Keuka had a chance for a quick response, but Alexis Dodge (Verona, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) rang her shot off the post. Play switched ends and the Golden Flyers added a goal with a minute left to lead 2-0 after the first.

The Wolves had a pair of corner opportunities early in the second quarter but were unable to generate a shot. Midway through the frame, Nichols made the initial save, but the rebound went right to a Nazareth forward who hit it in for the 3-0 lead.

Nazareth continued to control the game in the third quarter. They outshot Keuka College 7-0 in the third. Five of their shots were on goal and Nichols stopped all five shots. The Golden Flyers carried their 3-0 advantage into the final quarter.

Nazareth added to their lead with their fourth and final goal in the fourth quarter. Keuka got a pair of corners and got a pair of shots off them, but both efforts went wide. The Wolves would fall 4-0 on Saturday.

KC Notes:

  • The Wolves had their two-game winning streak against Nazareth snapped. The Golden Flyers lead the all-time series 6-2
  • Nichols recorded double-digit saves for the third straight game

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have a pair of road conference games this upcoming week. They will play SUNY Brockport in an Empire 8 game for the first time on Wednesday after playing them every other year as a non-conference opponent. Keuka College will then travel to Utica University on Saturday.
