Keuka College Women’s Soccer lost a home game against Fredonia State 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Shayla Vetter (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) scored her first goal of the season and goalkeeper Elianna Wilder (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) recorded nine saves in goal for the Wolves.
Fredonia controlled the game’s speed from the start, outshooting the Wolves 16-7 in the first half. Just over 12 minutes into the game, the Blue Devils capitalized on one of the shots for the early 1-0 lead. From that point, Wilder held things down on defense, not letting anything by her with four saves in goal. With just ten minutes left in the half, Vetter found the back of the net with a goal of her own. The game went into the break all tied up at 1-1.
Keuka slowed the pace of the Fredonia offense, only allowing for eight shots in the second half. However, three of the shots resulted in goals for the Blue Devils. That would close the game with a Fredonia win 4-1 over Keuka.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will open conference play with a road game against Alfred University. The game is set for a 1 pm start on Saturday, September 14
