Find Out If NY Owes You $$ at Canandaigua Arts Festival

SHARE NOW

You can find out this weekend if New York State owes you money. Representatives from the state Comptroller’s Office will be on hand at the Canandaigua Lakefront Arts Festival from noon until 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday to help residents see if they have unclaimed funds held by the state.

The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) currently safeguards 51 million unclaimed funds accounts valued at over $19 billion. The lost money belonging to New Yorkers can come from utility deposits, trust funds, old bank accounts, uncashed checks, investment accounts and insurance claims and other inactive accounts that have remained dormant for years.

“My office makes every effort to connect New Yorkers with their lost money,” said New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. “By joining and holding events across the state we can help individuals, companies, nonprofits and municipalities check for unclaimed funds and get their money back to them quickly and easily.”

A map of unclaimed funds owed to New Yorkers by county and region is available here, and you can learn more about unclaimed funds by visiting: osc.ny.gov/unclaimed-funds.
