Applications Open for Home Rehabilitation Loans

SHARE NOW

Eligible Auburn homeowners have the opportunity to apply for funding for home rehabilitation projects.

The city is using funds it received from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to help low to moderate-income homeowners make necessary repairs to their homes.

Maximum household income to be considered for eligibility varies by household size, ranging from $50,050 for a one-person household to $94,400 for an eight-person household.

$25,000 is available for eligible projects which include electric, plumbing, heating, roofing, insulation, masonry, windows, doors, painting, and interior and exterior carpentry.

Tiffany Beebee is a senior planner with the city. She told Finger Lakes News Radio the funding will be allocated through 0% and deferred payment loans

“We’ll be doing 75% of the project cost in what’s called a deferred payment loan which would be zero payments and then it would be forgiven if you live in the home for a certain number of years, and then 25% would be a repayable loan at 0% interest,” said Beebee.

Beebee encourages anyone interested in applying to do so as soon as possible as applications will only remain open as long as funding is available. Applications will be reviewd by Thoma Development Consultants of Cortland.

For more information on eligibility requirements or to request an application, call Thoma Development Consultants at 607-753-1433 or Beebee at 315-253-3518.
