Former Keuka College Professor Files Lawsuit Over Termination

SHARE NOW

Keuka College denies allegations by a former professor in a lawsuit filed in State Supreme Court of  Yates County that claims she was fired primarily because of her age.

Stacey Mirinaviciene was an accounting professor on the Keuka Park campus and was granted tenure in 2021. According to court papers, she was fired in March of 2022 after eight years on the job. In the lawsuit, Mirinaviciene claims Keuka used economic and social disruptions caused by the pandemic to oust tenured faculty and replace them with younger, less experienced, and less-expensive, non-tenured adjunct faculty. Mirinaviciene is in her 40s and her lawsuit claims several other tenured faculty over 40 were terminated or harassed so much they resigned.

While the college is seeking the suit to be dismissed, Mirinaviciene is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, or, be brought back to her position with back pay.
