The New York State Attorney General’s Office and the state’s Commission of Correction are investigating the death of a 19-year-old inmate at the Wyoming County Jail.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a correction officer found the 19-year-old unresponsive lying on his bunk around 6 Tuesday night. Emergency medical aid was given and EMTs responded but the inmate ultimately passed away.
The sheriff’s office is not releasing the name of the inmate until family notification is complete.
