Onondaga County Custody Deputy, Ex-Wife Accused of Insurance Fraud

SHARE NOW

A custody deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and his ex-wife have been arrested on felony charges of insurance fraud, grand larceny, and falsifying business records.

An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s Internal Affairs Unit revealed that although Jeffrey Wick and his wife were divorced in 2019, he never removed her from his insurance coverage. As a result, claims for Patricia Wick totaled $37,566.77, which were paid after they divorced, with an additional $1,227.66 for her pharmacy needs. In total, $38,794.43 was stolen from the Onondaga County Health Care Coalition self-pay insurance fund, which employees and retirees use to pay for their insurance.

Upon speaking with the Onondaga County Personnel Department during the investigation, it was determined that prosecution was desired for the theft of Ms. Wick’s fraudulent claims over the past four years. Both Jeffery and Patricia Wick were arraigned in CAP court.
